Children of stars: here are 11 French artists who walk in the footsteps of their parents

While the “nepo babies” are currently making a lot of ink in the United States, a short review of the children of French stars who have become, or are about to become, also famous.

The daughter of Josiane Balasko Marilou Berry, Vincent Cassel, Lily-Rose Depp, Chiara Mastroianni, Thomas Dutronc, but also Mathieu Chédid, Laura Smet, David Hallyday, Arthur Jugnot or Alain-Fabien Delon… Whether they are actors, musicians or models… All of these French artists have one thing in common: they have famous parents. While the phenomenon, certainly not new or confined to artistic activities, is currently causing a stir in the United States – where star kids are dismissively nicknamed “nepo babies– here are 11 French artists who have decided to follow in the footsteps of their illustrious relatives.

Suzanne Lindon

Actress and director Suzanne Lindon is the daughter of actor Vincent Lindon and actress Sandrine Kiberlain. In 2015, when she joined the Lycée Henri IV, she began to write what would become her first film: “sixteen spring“. Five years later, she directed this first feature film in which she played the main character. Still in 2020, when she was only 20 years old, the designer Hedi Slimane chose her as the face of the Celine fashion house. In 2022, we could see her playing in season 2 of the television series “In therapy“.

Carmen Kassovitz

Already well known for her role in the television series “Stalk”, Carmen Kassovitz is the daughter of actors Mathieu Kassovitz and Julie Mauduech. While she turned to an acting career at an early age, she has already participated in a number of films. In 2019, she was selected for the film “Nuclear Summer”, by Gaël Lépingle. She had also landed a role in “My night”, by Antoinette Boulat. In December 2022, she appears in the casting of “Storm», with Mélanie Laurent and Pio Marmaï. Oumy Bruni Garrel

Adopted in Senegal in 2009 at the age of 4 months, Oumy Bruni Garrel is the daughter of Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Louis Garrel. Her parents had met on the set of the film “Les Actrices” in 2002, and were in a relationship between 2007 and 2012. Eva Green

The daughter of French actress Marlène Jobert passed through the theater very early on. Noah Elmaleh

Born in 2000, the son of comedian Gad Elmaleh and actress Anne Brochet is a model. He began his career in 2016, parading for Zadig & Voltaire and Dolce & Gabbana. In February 2017, the young man took part in his first fashion show during New York fashion week. While he stayed away from the lenses of photographers throughout his childhood, in recent years he has willingly appeared alongside his father at public parties.

Thylane Blondeau

She is the daughter of host Véronika Loubry and footballer Patrick Blondeau. Thylane Blondeau began a modeling career in 2005, at just 4 years old, notably parading that year for Jean Paul Gaultier during Paris Fashion Week. After having walked many catwalks for several years and made the front page of prestigious magazines, the model, muse of several brands, is for the first time on the poster of a film in 2015: “Belle and Sébastien: The adventure continues ”, in which she has one of the main roles. Chloe Jouannet

He was born in 1998, the year of marriage of his parents, the director, writer, and screenwriter Samuel Benchetrit and the actress Marie Trintignant (daughter of Nadine and Jean-Louis Trintignant). Jules Benchetrit held his first role in a film by his father, “Chez Gino”, in 2011. He then continued with a film by Liza Azuelos, “Une Rencontre”, in 2014, and held his first major role in “Asphalte “, in 2015. Victor Belmondo

The son of racing driver Paul Belmondo and food columnist Luana Belmondo has been passionate about theater and cinema since his earliest years. Born in 1993, the man who is therefore also the grandson of cinema legend Jean-Paul Belmondo began his first steps in the profession by becoming an assistant, notably on the documentary “Belmondo by Belmondo”. Ilona Smet

Born in 1995, Ilona Smet is the daughter of singer David Hallyday and model Estelle Lefébure. The niece of actress Laura Smet and granddaughter of the singer Johnny Hallyday and singer Sylvie Vartan spent her childhood in Los Angeles, before moving to France when her parents divorced in 2001. In March 2013, following in her mother’s footsteps, she graced the cover of Elle magazine and is entered a modeling agency. After several prestigious shootings and parades, in 2018, she became the face of the Mixa brand, like her mother Estelle Lefébure. That same year she confided in an interview for Madame Figaro that she was considering a career as an actress, and for that she was working with a coach to prepare for her auditions.

Gabriel Kane Day-Lewis

Franco-American, he is the son of actors Daniel Day Lewis and Isabelle Adjani. Born in 1995, shortly after the couple separated, he released his first hip-hop single, “Green” in 2013, followed by a soulful EP “Ink In My Veins” in 2015. Since that year, he officiates as a model. He paraded for the greatest couturiers and shot in commercials. “For a long time, I tried to exist by myself.
