The requirements to register are: the original birth certificate or identity card of the student, as well as the identity documents of the father, mother or guardian, in addition to the Vaccination Card
This Monday, January 16, the school calendar begins in the country with the registration of new students. The start of classes is set for February 1, although members of the urban and rural teachers have questioned it, because it is not clear how the new curricular mesh will be applied.
At the doors of the educational units you can already see signs specifying the requirements to register students, such as a photocopy of the student’s identity card or report card, in case the educational unit is changing.
At the beginning of registration, it is common to see parents make long lines for a place. However, the Minister of Education, Edgar Pary, urged the educational community not to queue unnecessary, since registration is automatic for old students.
The ministerial authority explained that since Monday Only new students of Initial Education, the first year of Primary Education and the first year of Secondary Education should enroll.
“Pre-registrations must prevail in educational units, mainly in high demand. This Monday only new students of the initial level, the first year of the primary level and the first year of the secondary level are enrolled. The other students are already enrolled automatic,” Pary reported.
The requirements to register the students are: the original birth certificate or identity card of the student, as well as the identity documents of the father, mother or guardian, in addition to the Vaccination Card of the National Vaccination Scheme. “The Covid-19 vaccine certificate is important, but it is not a requirement for registration,” the Minister remarked.
Mothers and fathers who want to change their children’s educational unit or make some kind of update to their registration, may do so up to the first week after the start of classes.
In educational units in rural areas, this update or change of educational units of the students may be carried out even until the second week of February.
Conflict at the door
The school calendar in the country begins with a conflict at the door, the application of the new curriculum, which will imply the application of new content, such as robotics, chess, harvesting techniques and responsible use of social networks, among others.
Teachers have doubted the start of classes for February 1, as they have doubts about how the new educational curriculum will be applied. The executive of the Departmental Federation of Rural Education Workers of Tarija (Fedetert), Cimar Espinoza, in time to describe the new content as a “patch”, regretted that this sector was not taken into account when the new educational curriculum was developed.
Teachers see more workload, since the Ministry of Education is not expanding the number of items, if not the current teachers will have to teach those classes. To this, Espinoza added that teachers are not being trained. So he is not clear how the school year will start.
The Ministry of Education has not been slow to respond. Minister Pary assured that the curricular updating process was carried out with all the educational actors.
“In the first phase of socialization of our updated curriculum we had more than 50,000 teachers, for the second phase we have more than 45,000 registered; but, in addition, we have 438,000 teacher colleagues who have already enrolled in our specialized courses on new content such as robotics, mathematics, physics, chemistry, etc., which shows us the interest of our colleagues to be part of this update”, He highlighted, in time to ensure that, after the training, more than 100,000 teachers of the Plurinational Educational System participated.
Therefore, he assured, the teachers are prepared to teach the new connectives to students from all over the country.

Pensions they will not go up until the Month of May
It should be remembered that school enrollment begins with the pensions established in the 2022 administration. This was defined by the National Association of Private Schools of Bolivia (Andecop), which, he stressed, the increase will take place in May, based on the salary increase defined by the National government.
“We determined to defer the leveling of pensions for the educational service until May 2023, in accordance with the salary increase that the Executive branch may establish for the present administration; In the same way, it is established that this leveling will be retroactive and analogous to the provision that is issued”, indicates the Andecop statement, in which, in addition, it is indicated that this increase will be retroactive.
