One of the world leaders in paper-based packaging solutions, Smurfit Kappa, held the closing event for the second edition of its educational environmental program for schools in Argentina. Under the motto “I went out to ReCreo with SK”, the initiative seeks to promote care for the environment through recycling actions that involve the youngest.
Within the framework of an event that was attended by representatives of Coronel Suárez schools and collaborators of the company’s plant in the city, Recreo was closed, the program that offers school students to select remnants of cardboard and paper to be recycled.
The four award-winning institutions were Kindergarten No. 912, which collected 14,853 kg; Kindergarten No. 902 “Juana Manso” which managed to collect 14,344 kg; Simón Bolívar School No. 26, which won in the student/kg category with 1,826 kg per student; and School No. 24 “Paula Albarracín de Sarmiento”, with 186 kg per student. Each of the institutions received important awards for the optimization of their facilities.
In this regard, Matias Massera, Director of Human Resources for Argentina and Chile, said: “I thank the key players, the company’s collaborators, who selflessly dedicate themselves to carrying out this project, because without them it would not have been possible. Thanks to the schools, directors, teachers, children and families for joining this great initiative”, and added “Through Recreo all the children and families have given us an example of what we have to do as a community and I hope others do the same, because it is these types of habits with which we build a better world”.
Sergio Torres, Manager of the Paper Mill at the Coronel Suárez Plant, said: “Recreo is a program that meets our pillars of health, education, childhood and sustainability. For this reason, to each one of the members of the Soy Parte Committee, to the 25 collaborators that make it up, our deepest gratitude, because we know the love, dedication and effort they put into this and many other projects that we have been developing. ”.
The ReCreo Program was coordinated by the Soy Parte de Smurfit Kappa Colonel Suarez. These committees, present in all of the company’s operations in Argentina and Chile, are made up of voluntary collaborators who carry out actions aimed at generating a high impact related to health, family, and the well-being of the communities where it operates.
