What is it like to live in Varesotto? The social photograph of our territory presented by Confindustria

A detailed study on all aspects of life in the territory of our province. The event will be held on Monday 23 January, at 5 pm, in the Bussolati hall of the Liuc – Cattaneo University, in Piazza Soldini, 5, in Castellanza

VARESE – What is the degree of medical assistance guaranteed to citizens? What is the quality level of the environment of the Varesotto? And again, how do you place the province of Varese on the fronts of personal safety, access to culture and knowledge, the inclusion of women in key roles in companies and public administrations, the school and university system, health, the degree of citizen participation in politics, the overcrowding of prisons, on local public transport, on foreigner integration policies,

on childcare services and museum heritage? In one question: how does the province of Varese position itself in the Lombard and, more generally, Italian rankings for the creation of the social well-being of its communities and individuals? A legitimate question to ask, less obvious than to do so, also giving a scientific answer, based on an internationally recognized index, is an association representing companies. And so Confindustria Varese will present the ‘Social Progress Index’ for the province of Varese prepared by the IEC – Institute for Entrepreneurship and Competitiveness of Liuc, partner in Italy of the international non-profit organization Social Progress Imperative, founded in 2012 and based in Washington.

The event will be held Monday 23 Januaryat 17, in the Bussolati hall of the Liuc – Cattaneo University, in Piazza Soldini, 5 a Castellanza. The ‘Social Progress Index’ will provide representatives of politics, municipal administrations, social actors and the business system with a picture of the positioning of the province of Varese on a whole series of fundamental aspects of social life, to analyze the territory and evaluate the state of well-being of people going ‘beyond GDP’ and beyond simple economic analyses.

The province of Varese has been studied according to its ability to provide for the essential needs of its population, to improve and sustain the well-being of local communities and citizens, to provide individuals with opportunities to reach their full potential. With the profound conviction that there can be no economic development without social progress, Confindustria Varese, with the contribution of the IEC and as part of the Strategic Plan #Varese2050, through the Social progress index wants to offer the province of Varese a map with the weak points and strengths to set up, each in their own part, together with institutions, businesses and other public and private actors, innovative policies capable of increasing the territory’s capacity to satisfy the basic human needs of citizens, to improve and support the quality of life and create the conditions for personal fulfilment. In practice, with this event,

Confindustria Varese will provide the province of Varese with an instrument already used internationally by the European Commission, various US cities, some Mexican states, the district of London and other countries (including India and Australia) to direct resources and policies for the development of the social welfare of their communities.
