Castle High School: many at the open day

Professor Ermanno Puricelli, future head teacher, and Professor Elena Di Caro illustrated the novelties and special features that the new school will offer.

The desire to revive a complex of very high historical value with a view to enhancing the cultural value of the area: this is the directive that drives the team that is working, under the guidance of the Mantovani Foundation, on the Castle High School project, ready to start educational activities as early as September 2023 in the “Santa Marta” complex of Castelletto di Cuggiono.
An open day was held on Saturday 14 January at the Casa decanal “Scala di Giacobbe” to present the study plan and teaching projects of the future school, as well as to illustrate the forthcoming renovation works on the buildings that will house the high school.
Professor Ermanno Puricelli, future head teacher, and Professor Elena Di Caro illustrated the novelties and special features that the new school will offer. The structure will be that of a traditional scientific high school, with the addition, however, of two hours of English per week starting from the first year. Furthermore, from the outset, mathematics teaching will also be provided in English, in order to develop a perfect Anglo-Italian bilingualism.
Furthermore, the Liceo del Castello will pay particular attention to ecological issues: a greenhouse will be created (which will be looked after by the students) and an “eco-environmental laboratory”, and collaborations are already being evaluated with universities that deal directly with green, such as the Milan Polytechnic or the University of Eastern Piedmont.
Finally, the new high school will pay particular attention to economics, with the aim of developing in students an aptitude for creative entrepreneurship aimed at enhancing the territory. During the mathematics hours, notions of economics and finance will be implemented and the students will be involved in simulated business projects.
The Liceo del Castello will come to life in the “Santa Marta” complex, adjacent to Palazzo Clerici and already used in the past as a school building. The renovation project, illustrated by the engineer Luigi Paolino, involves the renovation of the first wing, in order to develop teaching spaces available for 50 students, including a gym and an internal garden area.
The open day saw the participation of many parents and future students, ready to be the protagonists of the new project that will start as early as next school year, in the name of educational quality and passion that already move and will move the educational team of the future Castle High School.
