Culture derives from “cultivation”; Cicero spoke of the cultivation of the soul as the axis of social life and today, perhaps, we are cultivating violence, that is, the decline of coexistence through the word and at the same time this violence generates an anticipated death. Hegel in the Jena Discourse said that culture was what happened between grandparents, parents and children; that is, as a metaphor for the symbolic transmission through kinship as the basis of cultural life. This seems to be in crisis. Thus the sacred value of life is lost.
In the fable of Hyginus that Heidegger takes up, the dispute between the Gods about who of them belonged to man is analyzed. The final discussion is settled by the King of the gods who pontificates that as long as Man lives he belongs to the God of Healing and Healing is cared for. The essence of man is to protect and care for life and care for each other.
Cultivation as a metaphor for culture implies sowing, transmitting gifts, values, norms; family, school, neighborhood culture, work culture. Man’s mission is to take care of life and transmit it and all this seems to fail.
Gesell’s fact of the death of a young man at the hands of a murderous “herd” at the exit of a bowling alley became public, but multiple events occur at the cost of death.
In Gesell, the drug and alcohol consumption in the youth night was obturated in the analysis, even when in the criminal group’s chats the marijuana flowers appeared as the hypnosedative that had to calm the adrenaline fury of the homicidal act. Were there stimulant drugs so common in entertainment areas such as ecstasy, cocaine, “pink” cocaine, etc.?; Unfortunately, no drug tests were done after the murder, or perhaps we already consider drug use as just another fact of our daily lives.
We are (still) surprised by the multiple sources of violence at night and also in the days that seem eternal. Deaths everywhere, assaults, beatings as a “barra brava” demonstration. Little by little we are taking this as one more fact of daily life that is a way of anesthetizing ourselves as a society. There are closed zones and times.
“CULTIVATING” DEATH
All these facts occur at the time that various criminal organizations fight for the management of the drug business. Argentina is the main consumer of cocaine in Latin America and this justifies the bid for the business.
The dominant “narco-culture” with its very active neuromarketing structure with multiple technological channels of propaganda and distribution (wapp, other contact sites with geolocation of sales sites, door-to-door deliveries, etc.) that are part of the narco-business . From the comfort of home they get what ensures the narcotization of life.
This dominant “narco-culture” needs to deny the damage to life that drugs generate and all of this is supported by the cultural matrix of the cancellation of the preventive discourse (this should not be talked about).
Rosario is perhaps a symbol of all this, but it is replicated in different locations in the country. The dead depend on the domains of the narco-territories for the fight for the business. There is data in Rosario that shows the sale of protection to businessmen, financial caves and unions based in the city.
At the same time, Rosario is the great example of inorganically structured prevention, since for 30 years the path was left clear for oversupply actions, limiting preventive and assistance paths to society.
All of this functions as a network with different territorial “managers” who in many cases agree on actions and in others dispute territories, although this network, which would need to be preventive, remains silent and cancelled. Only a preventive cultural network is the social immune system that allows limiting the prevalence of these social diseases. The Community Preventive Front looks absent.
Meanwhile, between a mixture of denial of reality, regulatory blindness and anomie (“anemia” of values) there are objects for sale in the bus terminal that say: “I visited Rosario and survived” (referring to the wave of homicides suffered by this city).
THE RECYCLING OF HUMAN BEINGS
If the value of caring for life as indicated by Higinio’s fable does not exist, it is necessary to remember Roberto Saviano’s novel “Gomorrah” (the author is a fugitive whose life is in danger for showing the activities of the different criminal organizations of the South of Italy) where the validity of new Powers superior to the States such as the mafias where the human being is only an appendage of the business is proposed: “here the more that die the better for everyone”.
They are territories where people are redundant and quickly recycle for another, from a Neapolitan hamlet to an emergency Villa in the different peripheral points of the country or in exclusive neighborhoods. Saviano says “in those places you only learn to die”. I have seen this with many patients who told me precisely this. In addition, it is interesting to observe how the transmitters of culture had totally failed: damaged or absent and abandoned family, school empty of value content, cultural institutions far from personal life. The drug was there and even as a job opportunity.
The world that this Other Power manages is diverse: drugs, narcoterrorism, original or simulated textile brands, but always with slave labor, urban speculation, money laundering, contract killings, etc.
That Other Power (the capital letter wants to portray the greater territorial and virtual domain that it has today) advances and dominates the other power in some aspects (the lower case inversely shows the degree of weakness of the legal organisms).
It imposes Another Law through bribery, fear, murder, unfair competition, campaigns to discredit competition.
It is a manifestation of Power in its crudest and “satanic” version; it is not power to be but Power to dominate. The justification is given by N. Machiavelli himself: “Those who win, whatever the means used, are never ashamed.”
This Power is implemented through an “ARMY OF NOBODY”. In different notes I spoke of the “exiles” of identity that are part of today’s society: they swell the juvenile prisons, they disciplinedly submit to the domains of the “barras bravas”, they are drug couriers, “bells”, consumers even the extermination; people whose useful life is short and who recycle quickly since there are many “queuing up”.
The spaces where these young people grow up have been “unpoetized”. The struggle from the beginning of life supplants the game, violence to tenderness, helplessness to protection. In short, they are “beings out in the open” in the best sense proposed by O. Paz. But beings in search of an “owner”. There are various “Patrons of Evil” or “Masters of Death” in the territories that will dominate them.
In the absence of guiding parents, an “owner” is sought to delimit spaces. You cannot live without a reference and a referent. Although his destiny is to be part of a “new concentration camp” where the barbed wire fences are made of iron, sadistic and frightening codes that cannot be circumvented.
THE FALL OF FAMILY LIFE
The entry of consumption into family life is a clinical reality (parents hospitalized with their children, siblings, cousins, etc.) and this is parallel to the fall of the notion of kinship as a product of postmodernity and the youngster remains shipwrecked in the Collective identity in a world of “nobodies” without orientation.
In our records, 40% of those treated have relatives in an addictive career. The naturalization of consumption “hits” strongly in the area of family proximities, encouraging educational deterioration and consumption by imitation.
Sometimes and consumers are parents who operate as negative role models and thus a lack of belonging and identity is generated. Unemployment and school dropout and the high incidence of conflicts and violence in the family nucleus are also common.
Severe addictions in the home are greater according to the quality of employment of the head of the household (loss of full employment, increase of precarious employment, underemployment, unemployed, inactive). In “precarious or inactive employment” the sale of drugs is high and has become a source of income.
Living in a home with alcohol and substance use problems is a significant predictor of psychological distress, poor sleep quality, unhappiness, and lack of social network. People who live in homes where alcohol addiction is present are more likely to be under psychological/psychiatric treatment and feel without the support of family or friends who show them affection, who advise them when facing problems or help them with domestic issues.
The culture of life is replaced by the desertion of key functions in the structuring of people in the culture of Death and the guiding functions are perversely replaced by Patterns of Evil who impose a Perverse Law on their dominated (the “nobodies” that swarm in society) .
