Going back, better, going back to the theme of the “Parents’ Consultation”, is of fundamental importance to re-establish and strengthen the connection between the fundamental components of the school. The Consulta presents itself as a free and democratic body, without any type of direction of a political nature or religious choice and, mainly, non-profit. As stated above, it aims to promote the participation of parents in the school, in order to participate in the formation of a more integrated school community, capable of relating to the wider territorial, national and international social and civil community. The Parents’ Council must be inspired by the ideal of a school capable of offering students strong incentives to study, in the name of respectful values for man and the environment, which feeds their desire for human, cultural and professional enrichment .
Instrument of democratic participation
The Parents’ Council – reads the regulation of the Liceo delle Arti of Trento and Rovereto “Vittoria-Bonporti-Depero” brilliantly directed by the head teacher Prof. Daniela Simoncelli, whose regulation we take as an excellent example of “Good school” – is one instrument of democratic participation, which is interested in all issues concerning the school and the relationship between school and family, school and territory, school and society, creating a link with the collegiate bodies and for this reason it proposes itself as an interlocutor of the Headmaster, of the Council of the Institution, Teachers, Parents and Students.
Members of the Consulta
The Class Representatives elected annually by the parents and the parents’ representatives elected on the Institution Council are members by right of the Parents’ Council. Adherence to the Parents’ Council implies acceptance of the school Regulations, if defined and present (but without it, it would be impossible to carry out the consultation).
Specific objectives and areas of competence of the Consulta
The Parents’ Council – as suggested in the regulation of the Liceo delle Arti of Trento and Rovereto “Vittoria-Bonporti-Depero” competently directed by the Headmaster Prof.ssa Daniela Simoncelli, whose regulation we attach as an example of an “Excellent school” – is established for:
- promote democratic confrontation between the various components of the Institute: management, teachers, students, families;
- facilitate communication and discussion between parents to better understand the problems and difficulties of adolescent children;
- acquire an active role and adequate weight for the educational responsibility of the family in the decisions and educational guidelines of the school;
- promote as far as possible the participation of all parents in the management of the educational offer of the Institute, for the part pertaining to the family component;
- help evaluate the effectiveness of the training offer, in terms of consistency and correspondence between the objectives declared in the Institute Project and the results obtained and documented;
- formulate proposals for continuous improvement of the quality of the educational offer of the Institute;
- promote interventions and activities to train and support Parents in the competent exercise of the educational function;
- help build a school-territory training network and promote collaboration between the school and all the resources present in the students’ territories of origin;
- collect and evaluate the proposals of the Working Groups of each Complex (if there were any in the Institute).
Actions promoted by the Parents’ Council
In order to achieve the objectives – reads the regulation of the Liceo delle Arti of Trento and Rovereto “Vittoria-Bonporti-Depero” – the Council can be active in the following operational areas:
- nominate their own representatives to the elections of the Institution Council (as an additional modality to the free democratic participation in the management of the school);
- elect and support its representatives in the holding bodies, including the guarantee body;
- define criteria and intervention strategies of the family component in the formulation of educational policies and for the solution of problems that may arise in the educational practices of the Institute;
- formulate proposals to enhance the educational offer of the Institute and express opinions in response to requests from the other components of the Institute
- keep in touch with families, transmit information, solicit answers;

- create a bridge of connection and dialogue with the territorial needs and resources, so as to facilitate the integration of the Institute into the territorial training network;
- propose and organize training interventions for parents, choose experts and find the resources necessary for their implementation.
