Traffic ban: school transport, people, heavy goods vehicles over 7.5T

Ban on school transport and passenger transport Tuesday, January 17 from midnight to midnight

Extension of traffic restrictions for heavy goods vehicles over 7.5t.

The Cantal department remains on orange snow and ice vigilance until Tuesday, January 17 at 8 p.m.

The rain/snow limit located at 600 meters altitude this afternoon will drop to 500 meters in the evening.

The forecasts indicate a significant risk of refreezing of wet roads during the night and a reactivation of snow showers at the end of the night with accumulations of 3 to 5 cm of snow per hour at Lioran.

For the day of Tuesday January 17, 2023, the snow rain limit will be at 800 meters with 3 to 5 cm of accumulations in the morning.

20 to 30 cm of snow accumulations are expected near Lioran, and 5 to 6 cm in the Vic-sur-Cère and Neussargues sector.

There is also a risk of snowdrifts above 800/900 meters altitude.

The whole department is affected by this snowy episode which should last until Wednesday January 18, 2023.

> RN 122

In this context, Laurent Buchaillat, prefect of Cantal extends the traffic ban on the RN 122 between Aurillac and Massiac until Tuesday January 17 at 5 p.m. for vehicles with a total laden weight (GVW) of more than 7.5 tonnes.

Passenger transport and school transport are also prohibited on the RN122 between Aurillac and Massiac, from Monday January 16 at 8 p.m.

This prohibition does not apply to vehicles and machinery:

- passenger transport until Monday January 16 at 8 p.m.,

- rescue and intervention,

- milk collection,

- responsible for the collection of household waste,

- livestock feed delivery,

- transportation of materials for pavement treatment,

These vehicles are subject to the obligation to wear special equipment.

> Entire department on January 17 from midnight to midnight

On the entire departmental road network, school transport and passenger transport are prohibited from midnight Monday January 16 until midnight Tuesday January 17.

This provision does not apply to urban buses circulating in the municipalities of Aurillac and Arpajon-sur-Cère, to light medical vehicles (VSL) whose GVW is less than 3.5T, as well as to vehicles and machinery rescue and intervention.

As a reminder, all vehicles traveling on the roads of the department, motorway, national and departmental network are subject to the obligation to wear special equipment.
