In 2022, about 50,000 visitors attended the MAV of Herculaneum

After successfully overcoming the Covid emergency of 2020 and 2021 which had caused a worrying drop in the number of visitors, the MAV / the Virtual Archaeological Museum of Herculaneum is finally back to normal.

Thanks to the many initiatives put in place to make visits to the Museum increasingly safe and pleasant, to leave the tragic experience of the pandemic behind for good, we are beginning to see the good results of the efforts made to promote the beauty and culture of a extraordinary territory.

Today, finally, the numbers are a comfort to those who worked tirelessly to return to the revolution of October 2019, when the latest technological update of the Museum, the MAV 5.0 – Virtual multiReality, was presented and little enjoyed due to the pandemic. , which radically changed the way of living the cognitive experience of the virtual journey in the life and splendor of the main archaeological areas of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Baia, Stabiae and Capri, undoubtedly preparatory to visiting the archaeological sites en plein air in Campania.

But since June 2021 we must also talk about the new museum creature of the territory, which has been given to the CIVES / MAV Foundation of Ercolano, the Museum of the Vesuvius National Park Authority of Boscoreale.

Together, the two cultural institutions welcomed around 50,000 visitors in 2022, thanks to the many events also organized for schools.

The MAV of Herculaneum doubled the admissions to the Museum compared to the previous year, registering 32,470 detached tickets at the box office, and the Teatro del MAV, managed by the Gabbianella company, welcomed around 10 thousand spectators among prose performances, concerts and school essays .

While the Museum of the Vesuvius Park Authority recorded almost 10 thousand visitors from the inauguration in June 2021 to the whole of ’22.

“Over 50 thousand people of all ages, many Italians and also many foreigners, involved in the activities promoted by the Foundation in the two museums of Ercolano and Boscoreale are a promising result for the two inclusive realities linked to the territory.

An important year is coming to an end that makes us look to 2023 with confidence – comment Luigi Vicinanza and Ciro Cacciola, respectively President and Director General of the CIVES Foundation – The collaboration with local institutions is profitable, starting with the Campania Region.

New organizational and cultural synergies are underway with the aim of identifying both the MAV of Herculaneum and the Vesuvius Park Museum of Boscoreale as places of experimentation and dissemination of new digital languages”.

A collaboration that sees its realization, also in the Memorandum of Understanding, recently signed, between the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, the Vesuvius National Park Authority, the Municipality of Boscoreale and the CIVES / MAV Foundation of Ercolano, aimed at the collaboration for the conservation, enhancement and sustainable use of archaeological and naturalistic sites and the museum areas of Boscoreale and Vesuviano.

With this Protocol, a new synergy and understanding is born to promote an area rich in beauty and ancient evidence of Campania civilization and culture, which will soon lead to the birth of the Boscoreale Integrated Pole with the demolition of a wall diaphragm that today it separates the Vesuvius National Park Museum from the archaeological site of Villa Regina and from the Antiquarium of Boscoreale.

A beautiful initiative strongly desired by Gabriel Zuchtriegel, Director of the Archaeological Park of Pompeii, by Agostino Casillo, Commissioner of the Vesuvius Park Authority, Antonio Diplomatico, Mayor of Boscoreale and Luigi Vicinanza, President of the CIVES/MAV Foundation of Herculaneum, for the physical and immaterial integration of the respective structures, aimed at the implementation and improvement of the tourist services offered to the territory.

Meanwhile, the MAV School Experience is starting again for 2023, the initiative which, dedicated to schools, through guided tours, educational workshops, personalized offers and virtual tours intends to transform museum halls into excavation areas, into kitchens of other times and into technological workshops, thanks to the magic of MAV 5.0, the latest version of the Virtual Archaeological Museum which, full of new contents, with digital technologies tested for the first time in the museum field, revolutionizes the visiting experience, focusing on the curiosity of the visitor and little explorers.

For more information on the itineraries, educational workshops and itineraries that educationally involve the two Museums, the MAV of Herculaneum and the Museum of the Vesuvius Park, it is advisable to consult the website www.museomav.it and send an email to reservations@museomav.it or call or send a whatsapp to n. +39 327-6399019 – +39 081-7323984.

Thus the cultural narration of the MAV/the Virtual Archaeological Museum of Herculaneum continues in beauty and inclusion which, a few hundred meters from the archaeological excavations of the ancient Herculaneum, represents a center of culture and technology applied to cultural heritage and communication among the most avant-garde in Italy, thanks to the technological magic of the latest MAV 5.0 – Virtual multiReality version, the most advanced ever which, since October 2019, has radically revolutionized the way of living the cognitive experience of the virtual journey through life and in the splendor of the main archaeological areas of Pompeii, Herculaneum, Baia, Stabia and Capri, to better understand their past and beauty on a preparatory journey to visit the archaeological sites en plein air in the Campania region.
