An investment for the future of the city: it is with this intention that the Municipality of Pordenone and Cinemazero present a project that will offer all young residents up to the age of 25 the opportunity to go to the cinema at the symbolic cost of 3 euros.
From 1 February, and throughout the year, children will be able to request the CinemazeroYoungCard loyalty card free of charge, which will be valid for 365 days from the date of subscription.
The card is strictly personal and allows the holder discounted entry to film screenings organized by Cinemazero at the AuIa Magna Centro Studi and the Nuovo Cinema Don Bosco with the limit of one entry per film.
The councilor for culture and youth policies Alberto Parigi affirms: “The concrete support for this initiative is part of the numerous operations of the Municipality to make young people active and protagonists of the cultural and artistic life of the city. Our children, marked by the traumatic experience of lockdown and conditioned by the pervasiveness of technological tools, they risk an impoverishment of relationships. The emotion and sociality of cinema can never be replaced by smartphones and Netflix. And it is for this reason that the CinemazeroYoungCard also has an important symbolic and social value “.
The scheme of this project, launched between the Municipality of Pordenone and Cinemazero, follows the “Silver Card – Color your Time”, already in force for citizens over 65 years old, which has proved to be a virtuous example of co-planning between subjects public and private, promoting sociability and contrasting situations of loneliness.
“Ours is meant to be an invitation to young audiences to experience the cinema, to get excited about the experience of collective vision, at the cinema”, declares Marco Fortunato, president of Cinemazero. “The idea of offering free membership of our card to the under 25s – he continues – takes the form of a complementary action to the intense program of screenings dedicated to schools, which since last autumn has been registering growing adhesions from schools of all kinds and rank”. With this Card dedicated to young people, Cinemazero aims to involve a greater number of children beyond school hours and in their free time. The CinemazeroYoungCard was created to satisfy a clear need of the new generations: to come together to share an experience, possibly at a reduced cost.
Cinemazero has been paying close attention to this aspect for years, creating opportunities for people under 25 to meet and participate actively – spectators of today and tomorrow -. A nucleus already exists: it is that of the Young Club, a group of young people who meet regularly at the Media Library and actively collaborate, as protagonists, in various Cinemazero activities, such as the International Short Film Festival (FMK) which largely involves under 33, and for the Pordenone Docs Fest, during which young people make up the jury for the Young Prize.
The appointments with the great classics in a restored digital version are of interest to younger spectators: for this reason the new card will also allow free access to the appointments of “Il cinema ritrovato al cinema” and to the in-depth meetings of the cycle “Il Maestro al Microscope”, real lessons in which films and directors who have made the history of cinema are analysed.
