PISA – The memory and the talisman to understand the here I’m and prepare the future: memory is at the center of the event, sponsored by the universities of Pisa, with Images And readings of students, students and teachers of the Sant’Anna High Schoolfrom the Normal High SchoolofUniversity of Pisa that takes place Friday 27 January starting at 2.30 pm in the main hall of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, coordinated by Michael Emdin And BarbaraHenryteachers of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna.
At the opening are the messages of Sabina Nuti, rector of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna; Of Luigi Ambrosio, director of the Scuola Normale Superiore; Of Richard Zucchi, rector of the University of Pisa. The readings and testimonies of historians follow (Michael Battini, Carlotta Ferrara Degli Uberti, Francis Morosi), political scientists (BarbaraHenry, Francis Strazzari), of artists (Annick Emdin, Ursula Ferrara), of people who study and work in Pisan universities (Camilla Corino, Piccarda Baccianti, Giuliana Bigongiali, Francis Ceccarelli, Anthony DiDonato, Vinicio Di Iorio, Clare Evangelist, Philip Galli, Elisa Guidi, Alex Isacov, Marco Martinelli, Julius Santini, Silvia Sperianin, Sofia Morabito) and that they will remember what was (the testimony of the holocaust of homosexuals, Jews, different) and they will tell what is happening. They will tell of today’s horror that grips the populations ofIran and, again, they will reflect upon how to search come on how to interpret memoryon the meaning of to build a permanent laboratory of memory. Among all, to underline the testimony of Eugenio Occorsiojournalist of Repubblica, son of the magistrate killed by the neo-fascists of Ordine Nuovo, the formation founded by Pino Rauti origin of that constellation of groups which, praising Mussolini, the Social Republic, in the darkest times in our country, was responsible for massacres and of assassinations.
An installation work by the artist is planned in the historic great hall of the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna Gianni Lucchesientitled “The Appeal”, incessant, like that of the students expelled because of ‘Jewish race’ and disappeared into the maelstrom of the Holocaust expelled by the man – d’Achiardi – who from Friday 27 January will no longer have a street named after him for the mobilization of the three Pisan universities and the city population.
“The sleep of reason generates monsters: the twentieth century – underline the promoters of the event – produced the aberrant idea of the final solution, the extermination of the Jewish people with its meticulous implementation by willing executioners in every corner of Europe and the our time still sees in the war of conquest in Ukraine, in hatred and violence against women, in the theocracies of Iran and Afghanistan and in the persistence of societies dominated by dictatorships, with the disappearance of individual freedoms, in the resurgence of nationalisms and neo-fascisms, of hatred towards the different by ethnicity, gender and sexual orientation and again after a century by race. Flashes of light cross the darkness: a street named after an unjust becomes a street of the just among the nations, thousands of women show their faces in Persiaat the cost of prison and their lives, men and women have been resisting the senseless war in Ukraine for a year and we still manage to keep the torch high in memory and not forget what happened, because, in the words of Primo Levi it can happen again, because it is happening again.”
